Derived from the cocoons of silkworms, silk production is limited due to factors such as climate, availability of quality mulberry leaves, and the lifecycle of silkworms. Care Guidelines:

Washing Silk:

• Frequency: Only wash silk when necessary. Silk is naturally antibacterial and often doesn’t require frequent washing. Steaming between wears can help refresh the garment.
• Colourfastness: Always test for colourfastness before washing silk. Wet a corner of a white towel and dab an inconspicuous area of the garment. If colour transfers to the towel, opt for dry cleaning.
• Separation: Wash silk garments separately, especially for the first time, to prevent dye transfer.
• Detergent: Use a high-quality silk wash. Hand-washing is the most widely recommended method.
• Drying: Avoid direct sunlight when drying silk as both moisture and sun can cause yellowing.

Dry Cleaning:

• Frequency: Dry cleaning silks every third wash helps maintain their fresh appearance.
• Stains: Take the garment to a professional dry cleaner if it is badly stained. Do not apply water to fresh stains, especially if you haven’t washed the garment before, as this can worsen the stain.
• Longevity: If you prefer your silk garments to look new for longer, dry cleaning is the preferred method, although careful washing is also effective.
